UUM ONLINE: Creative Industry Talent Empowerment Zone 2016 (Cite Zone 2016) lowered its curtain and succeeded in producing talented, quality, innovative and creative human capital as mirrored in the objective of the National Creative Industry Policy, Human Capital Development Plan.

Vice-Chancellor of Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM), Prof Dato' Seri Dr Mohamed Mustafa Ishak, in his speech said, the Cite Zone 2016 is capable of reinforcing creative industry human capital development through expertise, learning and creative opportunities.

"Creative industry opens more than 7,000 new job opportunities and we do not consider this sector as a new economic sector to our country because of its high profit earned. Apart from producing talents including actors and singers, we are in need of those who can manage this industry," he said this when officiating the Cite Zone 2016 closing ceremony at EDC Hotel & Residence.

He expressed his hope that Cite Zone 2016 would be able to close gap of expertise in fields of broadcasting, directing, editing, scripting and storytelling.

He added that this cooperation as a starting point towards further achievements and support from the ministry, university and local creative industry enthusiasts is crucial to produce successors and future leaders of the industry.

Meanwhile, the Ministry's Content Development Division secretary, Nik Kamaruzaman Nik Husin who read out the Secretary-general’s speech said, to drive towards the pinnacle of success, creativity and thinking outside the box need to be sown and stimulated from the grassroots.

"I fervently hope that all participants will fully utilise the knowledge learned throughout the programme. Personally, I believe that this programme is a starting point towards nation creative industry with talent, quality, innovative and creative human capital," he said.

At the event, a total of 19 participants, of which 8 are UUM students who attended pitching sessions conducted by FINAS Pitching Centre involves Masterclass workshop participants who received FINAS Micro Fund which was presented by the Vice-Chancellor.

A total of 127 students from 16 public and private universities as well as community colleges were involved in the Cite Zone 2016 which started on Saturday. The programme was jointly organised by the ministry and School of Multimedia Technology and Communication (SMMTC).

Present at the ceremony were Chairman of Uniutama Education and Consultation Sdn Bhd (UECSB), Tan Sri Dato' Sri Dr Mohd Nasir Mohd Ashraf;  Assistant Vice-Chancellor of UUM CAS, Prof Dr Norshuhada Shiratuddin; Dr Norsiah Abdul Hamid, Dean of SMMTC and university senior officials.

CITE ZONE SUPPORTS THE POTENTIALS OF YOUNG PEOPLE IN THE CREATIVE INDUSTRY

UUM ONLINE:Creative Industry Talent Empowerment Zone 2016 (Cite Zone 2016) aims to bring the world’s attention to the creative abilities of our younger generation particularly in the creative field.

Delivering the speech of the Secretary General of the Ministry of Communications and Multimedia Commission (KKMM); Datuk Kamil Othman the Director-General of Malaysia National Film Development Corporation (FINAS) said, the establishment of Cite ZONE was in line with the National Creative Industry Policy agenda which was initiated in 2010.

He added that the government had allocated a total of MYR200 million under the 10th. Malaysia Plan (RMK-10) to finance activities related to the creative industry such as the production of film and drama, animation and the development of local content.

"The ministry saw the need to intensify the efforts not only locally but also at the international level.

"The organisation of CITE Zone programme will bring the world’s attention to the creative abilities of our young talents in the creative industry,” he said at the launching ceremony of CITE Zone 2016 at Tan Sri Othman Hall, UUM.

CITE Zone commenced on 9 April and it saw the involvement of 120 students from public and private universities, polytechnics as well as community colleges. The four-day programme offers the opportunity to the younger generation to discover and share information, ideas, experiences and expertise related to the creative industry.

Meanwhile, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic and International Affairs), Prof. Dr. Hasan Ali, who represented UUM Vice-Chancellor said, the programme is a joint effort between the School of Multimedia Technology and Communication (SMMTC), Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) and KKMM. The progamme is divided into four main sectors including film, TV drama, animation and music. The trainers and facilitators of the programme include well-known public figures i.e. Aziz M. Osman, Pekin Ibrahim, Habsah Hassan and Cat Farish.

The highlight of this programme is a pitching session by FINAS Pitching Centre which involves the participants of Masterclass workshop. The best participant will receive a special award (Micro Fund) from FINAS.

CITE Zone 2016 was also organised in conjunction with Discover UUM 2016 campaign which indirectly introduce the unique surrounding of UUM campus which emphasises the concepts of Edutourism and Edutainment.

Also present at the launching ceremony were Prof. Dr. Norshuhada Shiratuddin, Assistant Vice-Chancellor of UUMCAS; Nik Kamaruzaman Nik Husin, Secretary of Content Development Division, Ministry of Communications and Multimedia; Dr. Norsiah Abdul Hamid, Dean of SMMTC along with officers from UUM and FINAS.

CITE ZONE SERLAH KEMAMPUAN ANAK MUDA DALAM INDUSTRI KREATIF

UUM ONLINE: Creative Industry Talent Empowerment Zone 2016 (Cite Zone 2016) diyakini mampu membuka mata negara lain terhadap kemampuan anak-anak muda dalam industri kreatif.

Ketua Pengarah Perbadanan Kemajuan Filem Nasional Malaysia (Finas), Dato' Kamil Othman yang membacakan teks ucapan Ketua Setiausaha Kementerian Komunikasi dan Multimedia Malaysia (KKMM) berkata, penganjuran CITE Zone ini adalah bertepatan dengan hasrat kerajaan melalui KKMM sebagai peneraju Dasar Industri Kreatif Negara (DIKN) sejak 2010 lagi.

Menurutnya, kerajaan telah memperuntukkan sebanyak RM200 juta menerusi Rancangan Malaysia Ke-10 (RMK-10) bagi membiayai aktiviti-aktiviti berkaitan industri kreatif seperti pengeluaran filem dan drama, animasi serta pembangunan kandungan tempatan.

"Kementerian melihat usaha ini perlu diperhebatkan lagi bukan sahaja di peringkat tempatan malah sudah sampai masanya bakat-bakat dan produk tempatan dibawa ke luar negara.

"Hal ini terbukti dengan terlaksananya program CITE Zone yang akan membuka mata negara luar terhadap kemampuan anak-anak muda kita dalam industri kreatif," katanya pada Majlis Perasmian CITE Zone 2016 di Dewan Tan Sri Othman, pagi tadi.

CITE Zone yang berlangsung selama empat hari mulai hari ini sehingga 12 April melibatkan penyertaan 120 pelajar dari universiti awam dan swasta, politeknik dan Kolej Komuniti itu memberi peluang kepada generasi muda untuk menguasai ilmu kreatif.

Tambah beliau lagi, untuk memacu ke arah kemuncak kejayaan, kreativiti dan pemikiran di luar kotak perlu dicambah dan dirangsang dari akar umbi.

Katanya, beliau yakin UUM mampu melakukannya dan CITE Zone harus bermula dari utara, malah menaruh harapan tinggi program tersebut akan menjadi pemangkin kepada industri kreatif negara dalam menghasilkan produk dan bakat berpotensi tinggi.

Sementara itu, Timbalan Naib Canselor (Akademik dan Antarabangsa), Prof Dr Hasan Ali yang membacakan teks ucapan Naib Canselor berkata, program anjuran bersama Pusat Pengajian Teknologi, Multimedia dan Komunikasi (SMMTC) UUM dan KKMM itu dipecahkan kepada empat sektor utama iaitu bidang filem, drama TV, animasi dan muzik yang mana tenaga pengajar dan fasilitator dijemput  merupakan selebriti-selebriti terkenal  dalam bidang industri kreatif seperti Aziz M. Osman, Pekin Ibrahim, Habsah Hassan dan Cat Farish.

Ujarnya lagi, kemuncak program ini ialah sesi pitching yang dikendalikan oleh FINAS Pitching Centre melibatkan peserta-peserta bengkel Masterclass yang mana peserta terbaik bakal menerima anugerah khas dari FINAS berbentuk dana Micro Fund.

"Selain itu, CITE Zone 2016 ini juga adalah bersempena kempen Discover UUM 2016 yang secara tidak langsung dapat memperkenalkan UUM serta keindagan dan keistimewaan kampus ini selaras dengan konsep edutourism dan edutainment.

"CITE Zone ini juga diharap dapat dimanfaatkan untuk bersama-sama berkongsi maklumat, idea, pengalaman dan kepakaran dalam bidang Industri kreatif, seterusnya mencetuskan inspirasi dan semangat ke arah kecemerlangan universiti terutamanya dalam bidang seni dan hiburan tanahair," katanya.

Hadir sama, Prof Dr Norshuhada Shiratuddin, Penolong Naib Canselor UUM CAS; Nik Kamaruzaman Nik Husin, Setiausaha Bahagian Kandungan, KKMM; Dr Norsiah Abdul Hamid, Dekan SMMTC serta pegawai-pegawai UUM dan FINAS.
