APRC2015 Landasan Mahasiswa Negara ASEAN Kongsi Idea Dalam Perhubungan Awam Dan Komunikasi

UUM ONLINE: Alor Setar - ASEAN University Conference On Public Relations And Coomunication (APRC) 2015 anjuran Institute of Public Relations Malaysia Student Association-UUM Chapter (IPRMSA-UUM) menjadi landasan kepada lebih 100 mahasiswa dari 19 universiti negara ASEAN termasuk Malaysia dibawah ASEAN University Network (AUN) berkongsi idea tentang perhubungan awam dan komunikasi selama tiga hari sejak 27 November lalu di Hotel Holiday Villa.

APRC 2015 yang dianjurkan bersama Jabatan Penerangan Negeri Kedah dan Pejabat Pembangunan Pelajar dan Alumni (PPA), UUM CAS telah dirasmikan oleh Pengarah Jabatan Penerangan Negeri Kedah, Dr. Haniff Hassan mewakili Presiden Institut Perhubungan Awam Malaysia (IPRM), Dato' Ibrahim Abdul Rahman.

Dalam ucapan beliau berkata, tema APRC 'Harmony and Diversity: Creating New Strategies for Public Relations and Communication' adalah bertepatan dan penting dalam situasi negara ASEAN sekarang kerana kebanyakan negara di rantau ini menjadi lebih global dan sempadan negara menjadi lebih kecil.

Menurutnya, perhubungan awam dan komunikasi memainkan peranan penting dalam kerajaan, perniagaan dan ekonomi seluruh dunia terus berinteraksi antara satu sama lain.

Katanya, melalui persidangan ini, pelajar dan wakil-wakil institusi pengajian tinggi di Malaysia dan rantau Asia berpeluang untuk mengadakan perbincangan terbuka dan membina ilmu baharu tentang perhubungan awam dan komunikasi.

"Saya berharap persidangan ini akan menjana pemikiran intelektual yang berharga dalam kalangan peserta dan meninggalkan impak serta kesan untuk persidangan akan datang.

"Terdapat dua pelan induk atau 'blueprint' yang diguna pakai dalam peranan perhubungan awam dan komunikasi yang membawa kepada keharmonian dunia ASEAN iaitu Pelan Tindakan Komuniti Politik-Keselamatan ASEAN dan Pelan Tindakan Komuniti Sosio-Budaya ASEAN," katanya.

Ujar beliau, ciri-ciri yang terdapat dalam kedua-dua pelan induk terbabit tidak dapat dilaksanakan atau dicapai untuk kebaikan rakyat negara ASEAN sekiranya tiada rangkaian kuat dan hubungan rapat dalam kalangan negara anggota.

Tambahnya lagi, persidangan itu memberi peluang kepada semua peserta untuk menetapkan hala tuju baru dalam berkongsi idea tentang komunikasi dan perhubungan awam dalam kalangan anggota ASEAN, selain peserta dapat menghasilkan idea-idea dan membina rangkaian baru.

APRC 2015 yang mendapat kerjasama IPRM dan ASEAN Youth Organisation (AYO) itu turut mendapat penyertaan dari negara seperti Indonesia, Thailand, Kemboja, Filipina dan Vietnam, selain Malaysia.

Sementara itu, Dekan Pejabat PPA UUM CAS, Dr. Massudi Mahmuddin berkata, APRC adalah satu platform untuk pengamal perhubungan awam dan pelajar menyampaikan idea dan berkongsi pengalaman mereka yang mana diyakini mampu menyumbang kepada pemahaman lebih baik dalam kalangan ahli negara ASEAN.

Katanya, pembentangan topik-topik menarik pasti akan merangsang minda dan mencetuskan dialog berterusan yang diharap dapat menjana pemahaman, sama seperti resolusi ilmiah dan berwawasan.

"Persidangan ini bertujuan mengumpulkan mahasiswa dan pensyarah dari universiti negara ASEAN untuk berbincang tentang strategi baharu dalam aspek perhubungan awam dan komunikasi serta isu-isu semasa yang berkaitan bagi meningkatkan kerjasama antara universiti ASEAN. "Di akhir persidangan ini, peserta akan membina jaringan kerjasama erat dan perkongsian ilmu dalam pembangunan bidang perhubungan awam dan komunikasi di rantau Asia Tenggara, khususnya," katanya lagi.

Penganjuran persidangan bertaraf antarabangsa itu juga adalah selaras dengan usaha UUM untuk memperhebatkan lagi aktiviti berimpak dan berprestasi tinggi sebagai platform pembangunan pelajar universiti, khususnya di rantau Asia.

Sepanjang tiga hari persidangan, peserta mengikuti sesi selari bersama pemudah cara dari UUM yang menyaksikan pembentangan dan perbincangan dari wakil-wakil mahasiswa dari universiti terlibat, selain ceramah Profesor Adjung dari Pusat Pengajian Teknologi Multimedia dan Komunikasi, Prof. Tan Sri Dato’ Dr. Leo Moggie, Pengerusi Tenaga Nasional Berhad bertajuk 'Greening Public Relations: Challenges and Prospects for Environmental Sustainability'

SMMTC MENERIMA LAWATAN KEMENTERIAN KOMUNIKASI DAN MULTIMEDIA MALAYSIA

 SMMTC ONLINE: Kementerian Komunikasi dan Multimedia Malaysia (KKMM) kini meningkatkan kerjasama dengan Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) dari segi penyediaan kandungan kreatif. Ini berlandaskan kepada Dasar Industri Kreatif Negara (DIKN) yang melihat inovasi dan kreativiti sebagai elemen penting kepada pembangunan modal insan.

Bagi merealisasikan hasrat murni tersebut, Bahagian Pembangunan Kandungan KKMM telah mengadakan lawatan ke Pusat Pengajian Teknologi Multimedia dan Komunikasi (SMMTC) baru-baru ini, diketuai oleh Setiausaha Bahagian En. Nik Kamaruzaman Nik Husin. Turut serta adalah empat pegawai KKMM yang lain. Perbincangan dua hala telah diadakan dengan mengetengahkan pelbagai program yang memberi impak kepada golongan sasaran.

Antara lain adalah cadangan penganjuran Asian Youth Indie Film Festival 2016 (AYIFF 2016), bengkel multimedia, forum dan pelbagai aktiviti lain yang berkaitan dengan tema filem, drama TV, muzik dan animasi.

GREAT ACHIEVEMENTS BY UUM STUDENTS IN AYIFF 2015 AND CiiC 2015

The Asian Youth Indie Film Festival 2015 (AYIFF 2015) has ended on 6thOctober 2015 with a glamorous Gala Night Awards.  In the Gala Night, awards were presented by famous performers including Fizo Omar, Ahmad Idham, Ghaz Abu Bakar, Zahidah McWilson, and Afiq Muiz.  Among the winners of ten awards, UUM could be proud of its two students, Mohd. Syafiq Nordin and Khairul Amar, who have won two of the awards.  While Syafiq won Special jury award category, Amar won the animation category.  The AYIFF 2015 consists of three-layered judging system.  All submissions after filtered for a qualifying round (submissions with incomplete materials were disqualified) were judged at a semi-final round.  This shortlisted nominees for the final round, in which they were judged by prominent figures Mr. Ahmad Idham, Hjh. Habsah Hassan, Prof. Dr. Roland B. Tolentino (Philippines), and Mr. Amir Azmi (UiTM - Malaysia).  The judges in the final round professionally determined the winners for allBest Narrative Film, Best Documentary Film, Best Animation Film, Best Experimental Film, Best Public Services Announcement, Best Direction, Best Cinematography, Best Script/Screenplay, Special Jury Award and Best of The Best categories. 

Syafiq, after winning his Indraloka was so excited, expressing “..it is so overwhelming.  I feel so excited, I am really into my Indraloka, and I really hope that this inspires me to go further…”.  Similarly, Amar who is currently rendering his expertise as an intern in TV Al-Hijrah expressed “…I am happy of course, I know the challenge is too big.  The competitors are strong. I just tried my best, and this (the award) is eventually the result.  I will ensure that this will not stop here, I am really into creative industry, in fact my intern in TV Al-Hijrah is a good platform for me.  This winning will inspire me inshaAllah…”

Besides Syafiq and Amar, UUM is also proud with two other students for winning Best Paper Awards in Creative Industry International Conference 2015 (CIIC 2015), which was held in conjunction with AYIFF 2015.  The awards were also presented in the Gala Night.  While there were five papers recognized as the best, Mohamad Lutfi Dolhalit, Sobihatun Nur Ab. Salam, and Ariffin Abdul Mutalib (Persuasive Technology: A Systematic Review on the Role of Computers in Awareness Study) and Ahmed Sheikh Abdulllah Al-Aidaroos and Ariffin Abdul Mutalib (Design of the Usability Measurement Tool for Multimodal Mobile Applications) were two of them.  They are postgraduate students of SMMTC.

Lutfiexpressed his excitement that “…I enjoyed CIIC 2015 very much.  The audience were awesome, the sessions were lively, the papers are interesting.  This is a good venue for me to expand my network, not only for the benefits of my PhD study, but also more importantly for my career development in the actual arena.  Well, this award is very special for me, thanks to my supervisors for their hardworking”.  Ahmed agrees with Lutfi regarding the CIIC 2015, by expressing “…I have been to many conferences, but CIIC 2015 is so special, I am looking forward for next CIIC.  This is the first time I receive Best Paper Award, so I feel it very special.  I could have not been able to make this without the guidance of my supervisor”.

49 Creative Industry Professionals Embark On Academic Sojourn At UUM

UUM ONLINE: Kuala Lumpur, 15 October – A total of 49 professionals comprising actors, singers, and the staff behind the scenes in the creative industries were offered to further their studies in the Bachelor of Creative Industries Management (BCIM) and Master of Science (Msc. Management by Research) at Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM).

Of these, 35 enrolled for the part-time BCIM programme including Hazama, Tomok, Aril AF7, Taja (Meet Uncle Hussein), Fiza Elite, Pekin Ibrahim, Fattah Amin, Fiffy Natasya and Adibah Yunus.

A ceremony to present the Study Offer Letter to the artistes was held at Sheraton Imperial Hotel, Kuala Lumpur recently. An appointment ceremony and the presentation of the appointment letter to the Adjunct Professor was also held at the same venue.

The presentation of the study offer letter was presided over by the Secretary General of the Ministry of Communication and Multimedia Malaysia, Dato' Sri Dr. Sharifah Zarah Syed Ahmad representing the Minister of Communication and Multimedia, Datuk Seri Panglima Dr Mohd Salleh Tun Said Keruak.

"On behalf of the Ministry of Communication and Multimedia, I would like to extend my warmest congratulations to the industry professionals who have shown their commitment to be here and be part of the university community. Indeed, this commitment will further improve and hone their talents," said Dato' Sri Dr. Sharifah Zarah Syed Ahmad, reading the text of the Minister of Communication and Multimedia.

Creative industry is one the sectors that can contribute to the economic growth and development of a nation. "In the United States, this industry has contributed up to $3 trillion US dollars in the gross domestic product and this is also evinced in the United Kingdom, South Korea and Australia."

Meanwhile UUM Vice-Chancellor, Prof Dato' Seri Dr Mohamed Mustafa Ishak said the study programme will take about five years and will be handled by theProfessional and Advanced Centre for Education (PACE) and the UUM campus in Kuala Lumpur (UUMKL).

A briefing session for the students was also held after the ceremony. The artistes are the first intake of students for the programme which is expected to begin this October at the UUMKL campus.

The main objective of the programme is to offer opportunities to creative industry professionals to gain knowledge and develop a future career in line with the Malaysian Education Blueprint of lifelong education that points towards encouraging self-improvement and lifelong learning.

Meanwhile, Datuk Eizlan Yusof, Fizo Omar, Emelda Rosmila dan Adlin Aman Ramlie were among 14 artistes that receive the study offer letter for the Msc. Management by Research, a programme under Othman Yeop Abdullah Graduate School of Business (OYAGSB).

An appointment ceremony was also held at the same event. Yang Berbahagia Datuk Seri Wong Chun Wai, Chief Executice Officer of the Star Media Group Berhad (The Star Publications (Malaysia) Berhad) received the appointment as the Adjunct Professor. The Chairperson of the University Board of Directors, Tan Sri Samsudin Osman presented the Associations of MBAs (AMBA) certificate to UUM Vice-Chancellor.

Also present at the ceremony were the Director General of the National Film Development Corporation Malaysia (FINAS), Dato' Kamil Othman; members of the University Management Committee, Principal Fellow of OYAGSB, Tan Sri Dato' Sri Dr. Hj. Mohd Nasir Mohd Ashraf, and senior officials from UUM.

POLIS EVO DIRECTOR REVEALS SECRET TO MAKE BLOCKBUSTER FILM

SMMTC ONLINEThe Asian Youth Indie Film Festival AYIFF2015 aims to recognize and reward creative works by students and indie artists as well as to encourage students and young indie filmmakers to produce high quality creative works. Thus, a Cinematography Workshop was held as the introduction to this prestigious event. It is an honour to have Mr. Ghaz Abu Bakar, the director of now-RM10million-hits Polis Evo, conducted this workshop.

Being in the film industry for more than a decade, Ghaz shared his experiences on his career from doing music videos to directing films. Behind the scenes, Ghaz discussed with the audience techniques of cinematography, particularly in the making of Polis Evo

The workshop is dedicated for AYIFF2015 participants and selected students from SMMTC academic programmes.

AYIFF2015 is a two-day event including workshop, talk, and forum by creative industry key players in which its climax is AYIFF2015 Gala Night. Words after this event is now still trending at social media with hashtags #ayiffisawesome and #uumisthebest.
