UUM UNISBA PACT SET TO EXPAND PARTNERSHIP

The renewal of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) and the Bandung Islamic University (UNISBA) is set to reinforce the bilateral relationship between the two universities that represent Malaysia and Indonesia respectively.

The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Ahmad Bashawir Abdul Ghani said that UUM signed the MoU with UNISBA back in 2015 as a result of a discussion through the Northern Corridor Research Centre (NCRC).
According to him, with the collaboration, UUM would be able to expand the offering of its programmes to Indonesia and at the same time, both universities would be able to work together to increase the quantity and quality of research and publication in refined journals.

"In addition, we can also conduct research through matching grants that involve the industry, whilst giving us the opportunity to generate financial earnings through international seminars and workshops for common interest.

"I would also like to extend my heartiest congratulations to UUM College of Business (UUM COB) for being constantly committed in ensuring that its academic programmes and research and publication activities go hand in hand," he said at the MoU Signing Ceremony between UUM and UNISBA yesterday.

Prof. Dr. Ahmad Bashawir Abdul Ghani who represented UUM signed the MoU with UNISBA which was represented by its Rector, Prof. Dr. H. Edi Setiadi at the Visitors’ Lounge.
The Vice-Chancellor expressed his hopes that the existing collaboration and smart partnership would benefit both Malaysians and Indonesians at every level of society, thereby realizing the philosophy of education democratization.

Meanwhile, Prof. Dr. H. Edi Setiadi said the collaboration between UNISBA and UUM would strengthen the relations of both universities.
He also reiterated that the signing of the MoU was also aimed at reenergizing the memorandum of understanding signed in August of 2015 in an effort to further consolidate knowledge between Indonesia and Malaysia.

"UNISBA is indeed very pleased to resume this collaboration that does not only involve research and publication, but we also hope that UUM can send lecturers and students to UNISBA. "Moreover, UUM is known as a well-established university and we want to learn and gain experience from UUM in order to develop UNISBA," he said.
