Manager Message

Dr. Adzira Husain is a senior lecturer at SCIMPA, UUM, specialising in visual communication and creative arts. With a Doctorate in Information Technology, Dr. Adzira possesses extensive expertise in Digital Media, Visual Communication, and New Media.

As the Manager of the CACE Unit, Dr. Adzira has been instrumental in developing and strategizing the programmes within the unit. In this role, Dr. Adzira is responsible for assigning staff to relevant programmes, generating innovative ideas, and liaising with stakeholders to benefit the department and university.


The primary focus of the Manager is to enhance the unit's performance and contribute to the overall improvement of SCIMPA's and the university's performance and financial position. Additionally, the Manager ensures active student involvement in CACE activities, ensuring that the programmes and events organised by CACE are beneficial to the students.


Dr. Adzira recognises the economic potential of the creative and arts fields and is committed to leveraging this through events and programmes that incorporate creative and artistic elements, thereby contributing to the development of the creative economy.

ABOUT CACE

The Creative Arts and Commercial Event Management Unit (CACE) of Universiti Utara Malaysia was established on 15 September 2017. CACE operates under the School of Creative Industry Management and Performing Arts, UUM.


The establishment of CACE focused on the following objectives:

  1. Managing commercial operations at UUM that were previously carried out by other parties, with the aim of generating income and reducing costs.

  2. Exploring the potential of the creative economy as a value-added element to activities that generate additional revenue for the University.

  3. Providing opportunities and platforms for students, lecturers, and those involved in the creative industry at UUM to apply their knowledge and expertise.

CACE Objective:

1 - Provide up-to-date, high-quality, and efficient services based on the creative industry.

2 - Encourage strategic collaboration among government agencies, private sectors, and communities within the creative industry.

3 - Serve as a hub connecting industry expertise and academic talent.

4 - Generate revenue through commercial activities based on the creative economy.

5 - Enhance creativity and promote the utilization of intellectual property.

CACE UNITS

#Creative Content Production

Excels in crafting engaging and innovative content across diverse mediums, from documentary to telemovie, with a focus on creativity and impactful storytelling.

#Music and Talent Management

Strategically leverages students’ talent development and management to generate income, fostering musical excellence and creating opportunities for talented students to perform. 

#Visual Design and Photography

Generates income by photography business. This unit leverages the visual storytelling power of photography to create memorable experiences while contributing to financial sustainability.
